Service Description
Week 1: Understanding Fabric Types & Preparation Learn the difference between knit and woven fabrics and how each behaves during sewing. Discover proper fabric prep including identifying grainlines, pre-washing, and pressing. Master clipping and notching curves to reduce bulk and create smooth seams on curved edges. Week 2: Pocket Techniques Explore various pocket styles such as patch, inseam, welt, and flap pockets. Learn how to accurately measure, place, and sew a clean inseam pocket into a garment. Get pro tips for crisp pocket corners, symmetrical stitching, and clean finishes. Week 3: Textiles, Darts & Hemming Techniques Dive into shaping techniques with darts—learn how to mark, fold, and sew darts for a tailored fit. Practice hemming methods like the blind hem, rolled hem, and narrow hem for a polished look. Understand how textile choice affects garment shape, drape, and structure. Week 4: Zippers & Closures Learn how to install a fly-front zipper commonly found in pants and skirts. Practice sewing clean and even zippers with confidence. Master hook & eye closures and learn when and where to use them in garments. Week 5: Upcycled Project & Fabric Manipulation Begin designing and constructing your own upcycled fashion project using repurposed materials. Learn how to creatively deconstruct old garments and transform them into something new. Use manipulation techniques like pleating, gathering, and layering for texture and dimension. Week 6: Final Project & Presentation Complete your upcycled garment using all the advanced techniques you’ve learned. Focus on finishing techniques like topstitching, pressing seams, and final garment fit.

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY: PLEASE READ We do not issue refunds on any workshop registrations. If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a credit to use toward any future event if you notify us at least 72 hours before the workshop.*** To cancel and request a credit, email us at diana@sewunik.com. We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 72 hours advance notice. ***Credits cannot be given for Fashion Camp (Deposits or Full Balance) ***Credits cannot be given for Series Workshops Our classes start on time so please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start time in order to set up your sewing space. Those arriving 20 minutes after the start of class will not be admitted and the class fee will be forfeited. SEW UNIK STUDIO, LLC. reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment. Class fees may be transferred to a future class or refunded. There must be at least three students in a class. Supply lists are available upon registration. If one is not available at that time, you will be notified as soon as it becomes available. By registering for a class, I grant SEW UNIK STUDIO, LLC. permission to photograph or video myself or my child’s participation in SEW UNIK STUDIO, LLC. classes. I also grant SEW UNIK STUDIO, LLC. permission to use the photos in a promotional capacity including but not limited to print materials, website and social media. In the event a class is cancelled or rescheduled due to inclement weather or other Act of God, you will receive a credit to take another class at a later date.
